With a new year comes new possibilities for travel and adventure. If you’re already planning your next trip, look no further. In this post, we’ll be sharing some of the best destinations to visit in 2023, tailored for each month of the year.
January - Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is a great destination all year round because the city is always energetic. However, in Winter, with fewer tourists, you can fully immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant energy and enjoy all of Gaudí’s architectural marvels without the crowds.
February - Cancun, Mexico

March - Athens, Greece
Athens is the perfect destination for a long weekend escape. Flights are generally cheap, and you can indulge in the most delicious flavours in Greek cuisine (personally, one of my favourites). March is also an ideal time to visit the Acropolis, as climbing the ancient site is easier in cooler temperatures.
April - New York, USA
New York is a city that should be experienced in all seasons, but spring is the perfect time to visit. With mild temperatures, it’s the ideal time to do a lot of walking to explore its different neighbourhood scenes and experience the city’s iconic sights. And even if it rains, that’s the perfect excuse to spend a few hours exploring the city’s incredible museums.
May - Amsterdam, Netherlands
May is the ideal time to visit Amsterdam and get immersed in the city’s atmosphere. The sun was shining, the streets were full of life. My favourite thing was seeing locals bring their dining tables and chairs and casually eat outside in the evenings. Go on a boat ride in the city’s picturesque canals, visit the Keukenhof Gardens to see the tulip blooms, don’t miss Van Gogh’s best artwork and take a half-day trip to Zaanse Schans to see some windmills.
June - Lisbon, Portugal
If you haven’t heard yet, Lisbon’s biggest street party takes place in June. It’s a celebration of the popular saints and the city is decorated with tinsel and manjericos (an aromatic plant similar to basil, that is put on small vases with colourful paper mache flowers). There’s also live music, parades and grilled sardines down the streets of neighbourhoods like Alfama. It’s a great opportunity to try some traditional delicacies and party alongside the locals.
July - Menorca, Spain
Menorca is often overshadowed by its sister islands, but this island is a beautiful gem in the Mediterranean sea. Known for its calm, crystal-clear beaches, Menorca is the perfect destination for a relaxing summer getaway. The best way to access the island’s idyllic beaches is to walk along the Camí de Cavalls, as it might be difficult to access by car or bus. My favourite one was Cala Macarelleta!
August - Cusco, Peru
Peru may come as a surprise, but August is the perfect time to visit. With the dry season in full swing, it’s the ideal time for trekking and visiting Machu Picchu. It’s important to bring multiple layers of clothing if you’re planning to do a trek. With mild temperatures, you can immerse yourself in the country’s rich culture and nature in Cusco.
September - Helsinki, Finland
Helsinki is a city with a relaxed and balanced vibe, making it the perfect destination for a September getaway. You will still get the last of the warm sunny days to spend a day out walking about, visiting the surrounding islands, and going for a nice picnic on a day out. You will see that this is the local’s favourite way to spend their time. With its quaint cafes, amazing design shops and art galleries, Helsinki is a city that has it all.
October - Luxor & Aswan, Egypt
Visiting Egypt in October is the perfect way to extend your Summer. You will get to visit the incredible ancient temples and tombs at more appeasing temperatures. Get immersed in the country’s rich history and culture. To top that, experience bucket list activities such as sailing the Nile on a felucca or spending a few nights on a Nile cruise.
November - Rome, Italy
Rome is a city full of history and character that attracts millions of tourists each – how could it not? That is why it is best experienced in a cooler and less crowded time. With its phenomenal architecture and rich history, you will get to wander around more freely and discover a more authentic side of the city.
December - Bruges, Belgium
With its picturesque canals and charming buildings, Bruges offers a charming and magical atmosphere that is perfect for those looking for a cosy and intimate getaway. During the winter months, visitors can enjoy the city’s famous Christmas markets, sample some delicious Belgian chocolate and waffles, and simply relax and enjoy the cosy atmosphere.
To wrap up, 2023 offers a diverse range of destinations to visit, each with its own unique charm and appeal. Whether you’re looking for a beach escape, a cultural adventure, or a chance to immerse yourself in local traditions and festivities, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience.
