Essential Camera Gear for Travel Photography and Videography
If you love to travel and capture your adventures through photos and videos, you’re not alone. Each year, I keep adding a new gadget to my gear package! However, the two devices that are always with me are my iPhone 13 Pro and Canon 77D.
It’s true that smartphones these days can take stunning pictures, and that’s the device I mostly use for my videos. However, my camera is still essential because when it comes to the creative capabilities of adjusting lighting settings or shooting landscapes at a distance, I want to capture every single detail to have great results while editing. My DJI SE gimbal is also a great addition for videography.
My most recent purchase was the DJI Mini 3 Pro. Both the drone and the GoPro Hero 5 are devices that I only take for trips that are more oriented towards the outdoors or adventure activities, rather than a city break. If that’s the case, then yes – both are also essential.
Why Skincare Products are Must-Haves for Travel
When you’re on the go, it’s easy to forget about taking care of your skin. But the combination of dry airplane air, sun exposure, and environmental pollution can take a toll on your skin. While you may not be able to carry your full range of skincare products, these three steps are essential:
- Cleanser – I recently discovered this travel-sized Caudalie Vinopure foaming cleanser, which is great for my combination skin.
- Moisturiser – This light moisturiser by Uriage helps keep my skin balanced, even in different climates.
- Sunscreen – This is the most important step of all. I’ve been using Vichy Capital Soleil, which has a matte texture that absorbs quickly.
Stay Cool and Hydrated With a Thermal Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is essential while travelling, especially in hot climates. However, carrying a plastic water bottle can be bulky and environmentally unfriendly. That’s why I love my thermal water bottle from Larq. It keeps my water cool for hours, even in the hottest climates. It was a lifesaver during the 30C heat in Nicaragya. Additionally, it’s durable and reusable.
Power Bank and Universal Plug Adapter To Stay Connected
It’s essential to always have a backup for your phone’s battery when you’re out and about. Not only do you want to be able to contact someone in case of an emergency, but you also want to have access to maps and other essential apps. I recently upgraded my Anker power bank after nearly ten years with my first one. This Anker power bank is fast and allows me to charge other devices too, including GoPro and drone batteries.
In the evenings, while you’re recharging yourself, make sure you check on your devices. And since different countries may have different electrical outlets, a universal plug adapter is a must-have for international travel.
Optimise Your Packing With Compression Bags
Efficient packing is key to travelling with ease. While I like to have different outfit options for travel, sometimes I have to pack more than usual due to climate or planned activities. This is where compression bags come in handy. They help you organise your clothes and fit more items into your luggage. I personally use the compression packing cubes by Monos, which allow me to fit a week’s worth of outfits and shoes into my small trolley and travel lighter.
These are a few of my travel essentials that I always pack for my adventures. Your list of essentials may differ depending on your personal preferences, travel style, or destination. Regardless of what your essentials are, pack them carefully and enjoy your travels!
